Halloween Fun Lights Up Almond Valley Care Home

Residents, staff, and family members dressed in Halloween costumes, smiling

Almond Valley Care Home has been brimming with joy, laughter, and spooky fun during our recent Halloween week, which brought together residents, family members, and friends of all ages. Our residents were at the heart of every decision, choosing to celebrate across the week to ensure plenty of time to share the festivities with loved ones young and old.

The week kicked off in the most creative way possible with the help of our youngest friends! As part of our intergenerational project, children from the local nursery joined us to craft handmade Halloween decorations. There were pumpkins, bats, and plenty of glitter! It was a heartwarming start to the week, filled with smiles and shared creativity.

Next, the residents got to work carving pumpkins alongside their grandchildren and young friends of the home. Laughter filled the air as everyone worked together to create some fantastic (and slightly spooky) pumpkin designs.

Midweek, we hosted a charming witches-themed afternoon tea for senior friends and family. Earlier in the day, our residents had baked some delightful Halloween treats, and these were enjoyed with plenty of tea and chatter in a cosy, festive setting. Everyone agreed the home-baked goodies were spook-tacularly delicious!

The highlight of the week was our main Halloween party, held on Friday afternoon to ensure our younger visitors could join in after school. The entire home came alive with music, laughter, and a vibrant array of costumes as residents, staff, family members, and friends dressed up for the occasion. A special Halloween photobooth, designed by our talented staff, captured some magical memories, while fun-filled party games kept everyone entertained.

Residents shared how much they loved spending time with each generation during the week, from crafting and baking to music and games. The mix of activities allowed everyone to join in and celebrate in their own way, creating a real sense of togetherness and community spirit.

It was a truly memorable week, and we’re already looking forward to more intergenerational events and celebrations in the months ahead. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Halloween at Almond Valley Care Home so special!
