Residents at Almond Valley Care Home

Young at Heart Social Afternoon at the Hilcroft Hotel

At Almond Valley Care Home, we believe that our residents’ well-being is deeply connected to their friendships and experiences in the local community. Recently, we had the pleasure of attending a truly delightful event—the Young at Heart Social Afternoon—which was held at the Hilcroft Hotel. This afternoon of fun, music, and dancing brought together residents from care homes across Livingston and surrounding areas, giving everyone a chance to socialise and enjoy a lively afternoon out.

An Enjoyable Day Out for Our Residents

The Hilcroft Hotel is a popular spot in West Lothian, and they made us feel right at home. The room was buzzing with friendly chatter, and as the music started, it didn’t take long for everyone to join in the fun.

The live music was the highlight of the day. The entertainer performed some classic favourites that had our residents tapping their feet, clapping their hands, and, in some cases, getting up for a wee dance. Seeing the joy on their faces as they sang along to songs they knew so well was truly heartwarming. It reminded us just how powerful music can be, particularly for our older residents, many of whom have fond memories tied to these tunes.

Supporting Our Residents’ Well-being Through Social Events

Events like the Young at Heart Social Afternoon are much more than just a bit of fun—they play a vital role in supporting the overall well-being of our residents. At Almond Valley Care Home in Livingston, we know how important it is for our residents to feel connected to the world around them. Many have led full and active lives, and being able to continue socialising with others in the community can make a huge difference to their happiness and mental health.

Attending an event like this gives our residents the chance to meet new people, build new friendships, and enjoy experiences outside the care home environment. The opportunity to engage with others who share similar life experiences helps to build a sense of camaraderie and belonging. For some, it was the first time they had met residents from other care homes, and it was a pleasure to see them striking up conversations and forming new connections.

Planning More Social Events for the Future

We know that quality of life is about more than just the basics of care. It’s about giving our residents the opportunity to continue living full, meaningful lives. Our residents are already asking when the next social event will be!

If you'd like more information about how we help our residents maintain those all-important social connections and stay mentally and physically active, then get in touch, and we'd be happy to organise a tour.
